Uzbekistan and UN World Food Program discussed humanitarian aid for Afghanistan
Ambassador of Uzbekistan Abat Fayzullayev met with Executive Director of the UN World Food Program Cindy McCain.
During the conversation, the head of this international organization expressed high appreciation for Uzbekistan’s assistance in delivering humanitarian supplies to Afghanistan.
"I am well aware of the importance of the international transport and logistics hub in Termez in delivering urgent assistance in this direction and saving the lives of millions of Afghans", she said.
Strong support was expressed for Uzbekistan’s regular attention from the international community to this problem.
It was also recognized that the issues of establishing peace in Afghanistan, achieving national harmony and ensuring stability are an integral part of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy.
The parties exchanged views on the use of the Termez international transport and logistics hub for the delivery of humanitarian goods to Afghanistan and the further expansion of humanitarian assistance.
Cindy McCain expressed keen interest in maintaining and strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan, offering future expertise and support for projects aligning with the country’s interests, such as initiatives promoting healthy nutrition in schools within the Aral Sea region.
It is worth noting that the UN World Food Program stands as a premier international humanitarian organization, providing vital assistance to countries facing crises induced by conflicts and emergencies.
