The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy held a videoconference with compatriots

On April 4, 2020, the Embassy organized an online video conference with students from Uzbekistan studying in the Italian higher education institutions. It was led by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Italy Otabek Akbarov, in presence of the Representative of Uzbekistan Airways JSC in Rome Khushnud Artikov, as well as other members of the Mission’s staff.
Our compatriots were provided with detailed information about the measures taken by the Governments of Uzbekistan and Italy in the fight against the coronavirus Covid-19, the possibilities of extending expired visas and obtaining a residence permit in Italy. We expressed readiness to provide assistance and support in relations between Uzbek students and the Italian authorities and the rectorates of their universities, in solving daily difficulties, as well as organizing their departure to Tashkent once the air connections are resumed.
It was noted that since March 1, 2020 the Operational Task Force Team has been functioning at the Embassy. It operates 24/7 to help the compatriots during the epidemiological situation associated with the spread of Covid-19 in Italy. Citizens of Uzbekistan recommended to strictly adhere to the restrictive and preventive precautions introduced by the Italian Government.
During the videoconference, students asked questions about the expected timing of resumption of flights of Uzbekistan Airways to and from Italy, the procedure for returning to Italy students who left for Uzbekistan in connection with the spread of coronavirus, as well as the prospects and forms of continuing education, etc.
Meantime, the students positively perceived the call of the Embassy to get involved in attracting investments and advanced technologies from Italy to Uzbekistan, increasing exports to this country, as well as Italian tourist flow to the Republic, after normalizing the epidemiological situation in two countries.
Along with this, some students, for example, Jasurbek Bakhramov, who attends an internship at one of the prestigious Italian research centers - the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste, called for joint work with the Embassy to attract the positive experience of Italy in the fields education, science and digital technology to Uzbekistan.
The videoconference participants expressed their readiness to provide mutual assistance and moral support, to share important and useful information with each other, including on issues of resolving emerging social problems.
